Extra-Territorial: Stories and Poems from the Northern Territory Literary Awards

All of the material in this anthology was entered for the competitions of the Northern Territory Literary Awards of 1994-1995 and half of the items, many of them winning entries, are the work of Territorian writers. The themes of the writing are as numerous and diverse as the writers. In many of the stories and poems, however, the expansion of imaginative and moral territory, through the crossing of cultural divides, generation gaps and racial frontiers, is a recurring subject, and the physical territory of landscape and scene figure as a forceful presence.

At the time of publication, Derek Wright was Associate Professor in English at the Northern Territory University (now Charles Darwin University) and was Chairman of the Northern Territory Literary Awards in 1995. He has published many articles on world literatures and five books on African writing.
