about Hot Topics from the Tropics

Hot Topics from the Tropics is an on-line multidisciplinary journal published by CDU Press at Charles Darwin University, Darwin, Australia.

As an outlet for articles and other features on a wide range of issues relevant to the Northern Territory and our neighbouring regions, the primary mission of the journal reflects the primary focus of CDU Press, to:

Broaden understanding about issues of importance to the communities of the Northern Territory, northern Australia and the Asia-Pacific region

The ejournal aims to provide an international forum for researchers based at or working in partnership with Charles Darwin University. It particularly aims to encourage current and recently completed Masters and PhD students in any field to publish original research, comment and reviews within the ejournal’s regional focus. Advantages to contributors include open access on the internet and a local, short-turnaround option for their research outputs. The journal will be indexed on major search engines to allow greatest exposure for authors.

Hot Topics from the Tropics is made up of three sections: fully refereed research papers; informally reviewed submissions; and other features, including book and exhibition reviews, etc. The journal includes a mix of traditional text-based journal articles, along with other types of submissions and supporting files, including for example audio and video clips, allowing researchers from fields such as the Creative Arts to include non-traditional forms of research output.
